I was sorry to have missed the recent Alton Silver/Reuben Gilbert BBYO reunion held at the Back Porch Grill and Tavern a couple of weeks ago. I heard from Jordana Prager Hoffman and Lane Levinson that it was a smashing success.

Friends gather for BBYO reunion after more than 30 years

More than 65 people gathered to renew old acquaintances at the BBYO Fort Worth Rubin Gilbert #163 AZA/ Alton Silver No. 221 BBG Reunion on Saturday, Oct. 24.
After a miserable 36 hours of flood conditions in the DFW area, a flood of familiar faces and friends met at the Back Porch in Grapevine. Fifty-somethings from the BBYO years 1975–1982 were invited to bring family to visit and reminisce.
The weather cooperated just in time for everyone to eat, drink and laugh over pictures from 30 years ago including Texas/Oklahoma conventions, Sweetheart/Beau Dances, meetings and plenty of goofing off.
Several were honored with special certificates. Rita and Ted Hoffman along with Harry Labovitz were recognized for their selfless years of volunteering as advisers for AZA and BBG. Individuals who traveled the farthest for this event were: Doug Samson (California) and Ivan Meltzer (Michigan). Least-changed certificates were awarded to Felicia Rovinsky Rubin and Ronnie Herman. Stories were swapped all night long about fast cars, great bands of the ’70s, behaving and misbehaving but all was in good fun.
After four hours, most were asking if this event might happen again. Who knows, but it won’t soon be forgotten.
