Around the Town
By Sharon Wisch-Ray

It’s never too late to send in Around the Town news and photos and I’m so glad that Linda Lavi shared photos of Ahavath Sholom Ladies Auxiliary evening in the sukkah. The theme was Sundaes and Safe Haven as 36 attendees enjoyed ice cream sundaes and a talk about Safe Haven, Fort Worth.

Resa Shipman a volunteer at Safe Haven explained the importance of this vital organization, which operates the only domestic violence shelters in Tarrant County.
The attendees knitted squares to be joined for blankets to give to Safe Haven. Knitters ranged in age from 11 to 70, and the event created two handmade blankets and $400 for Safe Haven.
A special shoutout to Barbara Schuster (knitter extraordinaire) for taking them and finishing the trim.

Save the Date: Dec. 25 Showtimes Film Series will feature ‘The Frisco Kid’

I remember the first time I saw the “Frisco Kid” with my parents. The film stars Gene Wilder as a naïve Polish rabbi headed to San Francisco to meet his congregation.
At 13, I was thoroughly embarrassed at how hard and how loud my dad laughed throughout this raucous comedy.
Turnabout is fair play I suppose as I’m told I embarrass my own kids daily for much smaller offenses.
We all know that Christmas Day for many Jews means movies. Why not make part of your day a stop at Ahavath Sholom for this free screening which begins at 3:30 p.m.?
Everyone is invited.
