Showtimes series returns

Everyone in the community is invited to the first film of 2016 and the third of Congregation Ahavath Sholom’s Showtimes Movie Series, at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10 at the shul.
In Deterrence, Kevin Pollack is the president. The world finds itself on the brink of nuclear disaster, with the balance point a small diner in Colorado, in this suspenseful political thriller. Not long before Election Day 2008, the president of the United States is making a campaign tour through Colorado when a sudden snowstorm traps him in a roadside diner.
Alarming news arrives: Saddam Hussein’s son has sent Iraqi troops into Kuwait, and 80 percent of America’s troops are far away, committed in the Sea of Japan. What to do? Drop the Bomb, obviously. Or what? That is only the beginning of the story.
The 2015-2016 Showtimes Series films have been carefully chosen to interest everyone.
There is no cost; the films are Ahavath Sholom’s gift to the community and the popcorn and cold drinks are complimentary! A special “Thank You” to the Jewish Federation of Fort Worth and Tarrant County for supporting the CAS 2015-2016 Showtimes Film Series.
The Showtimes committee members are Liz Chesser, Hedy Collins, Lisa Laudato, Posy McMillen, Foster Owen, Arthur Pawgan, Jane Pawgan, Debby Rice, Reggie Rog, Naomi Rosenfield, Rena Seiden, Jayna Sosland, Jim Stansbury, Robin Stein, Sheila Stocker, Roz Vaden, Barbara Weinberg, Dianne Young, Stephanie Zavala, Congregation Ahavath Sholom President Ebi Lavi, and Michael Linn, CAS executive director.
Incidentally, Herb and Dorothy was postponed and has been rescheduled for Saturday evening, Feb. 6, at 6:30 p.m. For more information, please call Congregation Ahavath Sholom at 817-731-472.
