Points for Peace, an annual 3-on-3 basketball tournament organized by students at Akiba Yavneh Academy in Dallas to raise funds for a selected charity, will be held Sunday, March 8, on the AYA campus.
High school seniors Brendy Eber and Zohar Gorny serve as this year’s co-presidents. The leadership role appears to run in the family — Eber’s two older brothers and two cousins previously held the position. Gorny has also volunteered with this year’s beneficiary, United Hatzalah.
United Hatzalah is an independent nonprofit volunteer organization that provides free emergency medical care to anyone in need. It is the largest volunteer emergency medical service of its kind in Israel, with more than 8,000 volunteers, including EMTs, paramedics, doctors and other medical professionals.
Organizers say this year’s goal is to raise enough funds to purchase a United Hatzalah ambulance in the name of Akiba Yavneh Academy. The ambulance would be stationed in Israel and used daily to respond to emergencies.
Eber and Gorny are in contact with United Hatzalah founder and President Eli Beer, who sent a personal video message available on the Points for Peace Instagram account (@pointsforpeace2026).
Last year’s tournament featured more than 60 teams. Organizers expect returning teams and new participants for this year’s competition.
