The simcha season is year-round for the crew of The Green Room Event Venue and Lounge Bar, but they are readying to party — and to share with community members how to do it, too — at its first Bar & Bat Mitzvah Expo from 12 to 4 p.m., Sunday, April 19, at its North Dallas location.
“It’s important to work together to create the most memorable events, and we’re glad to have all kinds of vendors joining us,” said Yehuda Alali, who opened the venue in 2024 with his wife Lital. “There are incredible options in the area, and we want the community to meet them. None of us can be successful without the others.”
The Alalis are celebrating the 13th year for their restaurant Meat Point, last year’s opening of Pizza Ella and the expected spring opening of Shi-Ya, all under the supervision of Dallas Kosher.
“The best of the best will be here, and it gives people who are planning for this year, or years into the future, an opportunity to get ideas,” he said. “To learn pricing and to have a lot of fun while they’re doing it.”
At the Bar & Bat Mitzvah Expo, area vendors — event planners, décor teams, caterers and more — will meet with prospective clients, with music setting the scene, food tastings available and gift bags to go.
“We’re looking forward to introducing so many of the vendors we’ve worked with for years to everyone and, of course, to share our own space, which is pretty special,” said Eilat Nisenblat, manager of The Green Room. The 5,000-square-foot space at Hillcrest and Campbell, near the Alalis’ restaurants, offers space alone or myriad catering, rentals and more.
“There can be a lot of stress in trying to find activities and caterers and rental companies — all the things when you are getting ready for your simcha — and we’re here to make it much easier,” she said. “Easier, and on a Sunday of fun and togetherness.”
For Shabbos Blooms owner Lindsey Retan, the opportunity to share her floral design company with people from congregations throughout the community — and those not even affiliated — is exciting.
“Yehuda is a mastermind and a very special guy with a vision and a passion,” said Retan. “I love when I have the chance to work at The Green Room, or with him on any event, anywhere.
“I do Shabbos flowers for one table, I have subscriptions for those who want regular service, and I do events, big and small, for almost any occasions all around the community,” she added. “The expo will be a wonderful chance to meet who I hope will be my new clients.”
Amy Doty, the hair and makeup professional behind MUAH Studios (Make Up and Hair) and the owner of Amy’s A-list, which provides party entertainment services, offers face glitter, black-light hair and makeup, braid bars, airbrush tattoos, customized merchandise and more.
“I love this idea — it’s great to have an event open to the community in any form,” said Doty. “As one who has been providing entertainment and unique activities for more than a decade, it’s always fun to see the faces I know, and to meet new friends.”
Whether he is serving up his own steakhouse, Italian or Japanese grill-inspired tastes, or opening his venue’s doors to make connections, Alali can’t wait to meet and greet his event’s attendees.
“This is what we do. We make great things, we bring people together, and now it’s just on a bigger level,” he said. “It’s Meat Point’s bar mitzvah year, so what better way to celebrate than to have a great party and invite all the friends we hope to meet and those we already appreciate.”
