On March 6, Shira Karp was jumping for joy in Doolin, Ireland, participating in a study abroad program with Nova Southeastern University. Five days later she was “patient zero,” the first with coronavirus at Westside Regional Medical Center in Florida. Karp returned to Dallas late last month, COVID-free.
