Roslyn Silverstein Carren

Roslyn Silverstein Carren passed away Dec. 1, 2024. She was born May 6, 1927, to Leon and Fanny Silverstein in the Bronx, New York. She grew up in the city, but had a love of nature from a young age. Her artistic talents combined with her resolute tenacity remained constant qualities in her life. A chance meeting in Florida led to her marriage to constant advocate, Seymour Carren, in 1950. Following a move to Dallas, the couple opened Carren’s Flowers, which went on to become one of the Metroplex’s most popular flower shops.

After the birth of their daughter Lisa, Roslyn continued working, a modern woman through and through. Lisa went on to develop a similar appreciation for the arts (and doggies) from her mother.

In the 1970s, with Carren’s Flowers a decided success, Roslyn started her own company, Carren Porcelains. As always, her husband steadfastly supported her.

After Seymour’s death in 1988, she retired from business but remained an artist until her passing.

Whether with the stories she told or the songs she sang, Roslyn always had that special something that made people glad to know her.

Roslyn was preceded in death by her husband, Seymour, and brother, Yusy. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa, and son-in-law, Michael; granddaughters, Sarah of Paris, France, and Jocelyn; and great-granddaughter, Violet.

Services entrusted to Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home / Hillcrest Mausoleum and Memorial Park.

As a memorial, Roslyn would like everyone to be nice to each other and to animals.
