Fort Worth and Dallas communities observe Yom HaShoah with music, memory and meaning

North Texas will commemorate Yom HaShoah — Holocaust Remembrance Day — with two powerful events honoring the 6 million Jews murdered during the Shoah and paying tribute to the resilience of survivors and liberators alike.

In Fort Worth, the Jewish Federation of Fort Worth and Tarrant County will host its annual Yom HaShoah observance at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, at Beth-El Congregation. The program features The Mischlinge Exposé, a multimedia performance by Carolyn Enger blending music, literature, and imagery reflecting the experiences of “Mischlinge” — those of mixed Jewish and Aryan descent — and the legacy of Holocaust survivors. The service is free to attend.
RSVP by email to Cindy Simon at c.simon@tarrantfederation.org.

In Dallas, the community will gather at Congregation Shearith Israel at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 24, for a moving ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of liberation. The program will include reflections on the Holocaust, stories of survivors, and tributes to those who liberated the concentration camps. A community minyan will precede the event at 6 p.m. There is no cost to attend.
