Prayer: Our main worship services are held at 6:15 p.m. Friday nights and 10:30 a.m. Saturday mornings, along with many opportunities throughout the year for family prayer. Evening services featuring classical Reform worship are held six times per year. A morning minyan is held Sunday-Friday at 8:15 a.m.
Learning and Spirituality: Temple offers a rich variety of learning opportunities for children and adults, including Hebrew, Torah, Talmud, Mussar, yoga, music and meditation. Renowned Jewish scholars visit regularly, and provocative seminars are held on important issues of the day.
Social Justice: Temple has been a force for change in Dallas and beyond since its inception. Today we have ongoing partnerships with the Vickery Meadow neighborhood and 18 other organizations in the Dallas area. We are involved in advocacy work around the areas of hunger and food insecurity, LGBTQ equality and immigration justice.
Interfaith: Temple Emanu-El welcomes interfaith couples, families and children of intermarriage. Educational, social and small group experiences help cultivate a positive connection to Jewish life. Programs include Navigating the Religion Decision and various parenting and grandparenting circles. Our clergy work with interfaith couples and families on lifecycle events.
Small Groups: The Sh’ma Emanu-El small group initiative helps big feel small. It deepens people’s connection to others who share similar interests and life stages, elevates the soul and repairs the world, and enables participants to share Jewish experiences, conversations and celebrations that motivate them to live meaningful Jewish lives.
LGBTQ: Temple Emanu-El is an open, inclusive and welcoming community to all. The congregation advocates on behalf of the LGBTQ comunity, and against any legislation that targets its rights. Temple participates in the Dallas Pride Festival and sponsors an Interfaith Pride Shabbat with other local congregations.
